A message from our CEO and President
As a leading global brake friction manufacturer, we are dedicated to driving the industry forward, instigating change, and showing the way for a greener mobility future
Green to Sustainability
We are proud to have pioneered many sustainable braking products from copper free pads for high performance vehicles to lightweight friction that reduces fuel consumption for the aftermarket.
We were instrumental in the development of the Eco-Table, a set of environmental classification standards for friction materials, which is now universally recognised. We are also currently part of the working group developing the basis for new Euro 7 standards for brake emissions.
Moving forward
However, we want to go even further in our approach to reducing our environmental impact. We take our responsibilities to our people, customers, society, and the environment very seriously. As a leading manufacturer within our sector, we want to set the example and be the change we want to see. That is why we have reviewed our sustainability roadmap and set ourselves extremely ambitious targets. We will transform how we approach every aspect within our ecosystem to reduce our carbon emissions, together with an inclusive workplace and a fair and sustainable automotive value chain.
Our vision, together, we are committed to drive change towards a better future through pioneering sustainable braking, investing in a more efficient ecosystem and acting responsibly, will be achieved via the ESG (environmental, social, governance) framework. It will guide our business practices and performances on sustainability and ethical issues, as well as providing a way to measure risks and identify opportunities for improvement to enable change in those areas.
Plans in motion
Many plans are already in motion to help achieve our ambitious goals. We have recently signed a long-term partnership with Iberdrola, Europe’s largest electricity utility by market capitalisation and one of the world’s top three electricity companies, to deliver renewable energy to our facilities. The first project will cover more than 50 percent of TMD Friction’s total demand in Germany from 2027. This will be replicated across all sites globally with Iberdrola and other partners to meet our commitment to move to 100% renewable energy by 2030.
Green to Sustainable
We are dedicated to conducting business in an ethical and socially responsible manner. We will continually review the working conditions and welfare of our people, and work closely with our suppliers to ensure all materials are ethically and sustainably sourced.
At TMD Friction, we are committed to achieving our ambitious goals to reduce our emissions and environmental impact in a socially responsible way. We want to demonstrate there is a greener, cleaner way to manufacture and supply brake friction products, together.
